Bywood is a modern farmhouse custom build in Charlotte — a two-story home that pairs a warm, durable exterior with a bright, open interior. We built it with the details that give the style its longevity: painted brick and board-and-batten siding, steep gabled rooflines, black-trimmed windows, a standing-seam metal porch roof, and stained cedar columns framing the entry.

The front door sets the tone — a walnut double door with full-lite glass, sheltered beneath a cedar-clad porch ceiling and flanked by black lanterns. Inside, a vaulted two-story foyer opens to wide-plank white oak floors and an open staircase with wood treads and black metal balusters. A formal dining room with a tray ceiling sits just off the entry, and a light-filled home office anchors the front corner of the plan.

The heart of the home is an open run of great room, dining, and kitchen. The great room centers on a marble-surround fireplace flanked by walnut floating shelves and built-in cabinetry. The chef's kitchen is organized around an oversized island topped with a marble-look surface, with crisp white cabinetry, brass hardware and fixtures, a statement range hood, a pro-grade stainless range, panel-front refrigeration, and woven pendant lighting. Just off the kitchen, a walk-in pantry adds custom shelving, a corner carousel, a butcher-block counter, and a beverage center. A built-in mudroom with bench seating and brass hooks handles the comings and goings.

The primary suite is a quiet retreat — a tray ceiling, a chandelier above the bed, and a spa bath with a freestanding soaking tub, a glass-enclosed walk-in shower, and a generous double vanity. Secondary bedrooms each carry their own design identity and share thoughtfully finished en-suite and Jack-and-Jill baths. Upstairs, a loft with a wet bar and a flexible bonus room give the home room to gather, work out, or unwind, while a designer powder bath and a spacious sage-green laundry room round out the everyday function.

Out back, a deep covered outdoor living room extends the home's gathering space. A stained tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling, recessed lighting, and a modern black ceiling fan sit above a floor-to-ceiling whitewashed brick fireplace and slate-tile flooring. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors fold the covered porch into the main living spaces, so the indoors and outdoors read as one. Beyond it, a flat, fully sodded and fully fenced backyard — freshly landscaped with new trees and mulched beds — gives the home room to grow.
